Thinking pot wants to kick off work with Donald Sassoon. In his lesson he will talk about changes in european culture and identity analyzing his latest book The Culture of the Europeans.

Donald Sassoon is Professor of Comparative European History at Queen Mary, University of London. He was born in Cairo and was educated in Paris, Milan, London and the United States. In Italy he has published Togliatti e la via italiana al socialismo (Einaudi 1980), Cento anni di socialismo (Editori Riuniti 1997), La Sinistra nell’Europa occidentale del XX secolo” (Editori Riuniti, 1998), “La Gioconda. L’avventurosa storia del quadro più famoso del mondo” (Carocci, 2002), “La cultura degli europei. Dal 1800 a oggi” (Rizzoli 2008). In 2009 he begans his collaboration with the University of Trento. n 2000 he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Remarque Institute at New York University and during 2002 he was Senior Research Fellow at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris.
Between 1996 and 2006 Professor Sassoon was engaged in a major project mapping out the growth and development of cultural markets throughout Europe since 1800 encompassing publishing, novel-writing, the press, the theatre, music, the recording industry, the cinema, radio and television, down to the web, computer games and the iPod. The result is his latest novel The Culture of the Europeans (Rizzoli 2008). Finally in 2009 Sassoon won the Alassio Internazionale awards for his commitment in dialogue between different cultures.
